salam..

One of the scenes in the movie Ayat-Ayat Cinta (Verses of Love) that stuck in my head was when Fahri received the booting letter from his uni and his jail-mate mocked him so.
Fahri could not accept the fact that he was dismissed by the uni and questioned The Al-Mighty what were his faults to deserve this.
Crazy jailmate reminded him of his faults. And then proceded to narrate the story of when Prophet Yusuf Alaihissalam was falsely accused by Zulaikha.
The bit I remembered the most was when Crazy Jailmate grabbed Fahri by the collar and said “Kau mahu tahu apa yang dikatakan oleh Yusuf???”
When calamity strikes, we often question Allah, what have we done to deserve this? Why has this befallen on me? Especially when you think you have done nothing wrong to be treated in such way by Allah. The nerve of us to think that we are actually sin-free.
Just like Fahri, when he said in that scene “Apa salah saya pada Allah???”
“Istigfar indonesia! Istigfar!!”
Quite rightly, we should say our istigfars, to question the Al-Mighty when He is the Wise Planner of all things.
Two weeks ago, I gave a talk about Huznuzhon, bersangka baik, having good thoughts.
When hardships befall onto you, when something doesn’t go your way, its hard to remain husnuzhon towards Allah , but you have to try, you have to.
Remember, Allah does not burden you beyond your means (2:286), and when Allah tests you, He loves you (2:155). Test, trials, calamities, hardships, they are all package of having Faith in Allah, putting your trust in Allah (29:2-3).
I know its hard to see the good in hardships, the positive side of things in calamities, but insya-Allah, with each trial and tribulation, Allah is building up your patience threshold, your sincerity theshold, your iman threshold. There is something that you have to learn with each test, that only Allah can give and no one else.
Allah sedang berbicara dengan mu wahai, fulan / fulanah…Allah is speaking to you, Allah is teaching you, Allah is advising you, in the best way He knows how and the best way YOU will be able to learn and accept it.
If you have the slightest bit of arrogance in your heart, Allah will give you something to tone that bit done or eliminate it. If you have been insincere in teaching others, Allah will remind you, the main reason why you are doing what you do.
These past few days, have been quite challenging. I’ve been wrecking my brains trying to find a solution to my problem, but the answer has not arrive yet. But i know it will. I know it will come. It’s just a matter of time. Husnuzhon kepada Allah.
When being tested by Allah, remember, Allah loves you, Allah wants to polish your iman. It is when you are not being tested, that you should worry. It means that you are no longer receiving speshul attention from Allah. Fear that.

Sabar…dan ikhlas….Patience and sincerity…
Two of the most common words to recite and relay to others when faced with calamity but in practise, tis harder to do. Agree? Light on the lips but heavy on the heart. When calamity strikes, we often question Allah, what have we done to deserve this? Why has this befallen on me? Especially when you think you have done nothing wrong to be treated in such way by Allah. The nerve of us to think that we are actually sin-free.
